Key Features of the Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)
Eligibility for HRA Coverage
The Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) is only available to Public Safety employees. Please refer to your collective bargaining agreement for coverage details.
HRA funds may be used for eligible expenses for your spouse or federal tax dependent(s).
Eligible Medical Expenses
HRA funds can be used to pay for a variety of eligible healthcare expenses, including:
- Prescriptions
- Some over-the-counter medications
- Doctor office co-pays
- Health insurance deductibles and coinsurance
- Dental expenses
- Vision expenses
Coordination with Health Care Spending Account (FSA)
- If you have unused Health FSA elections from the prior plan year, these funds will be used first
- Next, new plan year Employee Health FSA elections will be utilized
- Finally, the remaining balance in your HRA will be used
