After being jilted by her boyfriend, a talk show talent scout writes a column on the relationship habits of men which gains her national fame. Based on Laura Zigman’s book Animal Husbandry. - The General’s Daughter (1999, R)
Starring: John Travolta and Madeleine Stowe When the daughter of a well-known and well-respected base commander is murdered, an undercover detective is summoned to look into the matter and finds a slew of cover-ups at West Point. Based on Nelson DeMille’s book by the same name. - Practical Magic (1998, PG-13)

Starring: Helen Hunt, Colin Firth and Bette Midler April, 39, wants a baby but her husband leaves her. When her adoptive mother dies, she’s contacted by her biological mother, a TV talk show host. April starts seeing the divorced dad of one of her students at school. Based on Elinor Lipman’s book by the same name.
