Dive into engaging discussions about the importance of freedom of expression in our community during the Second Annual Freedom of Expression Week Symposium.
Join us October 21 through October 25, 2024.
Adelphi University students, faculty, staff and entire classes are encouraged to participate in our second annual Freedom of Expression Week Symposium events. Each day of the week offers one or more thought-provoking sessions that dive deep on timely topics, including:
- Freedom of expression
- The importance of diversity of thought in democratic discourse
- The need for civil dialogue around conflicting perspectives, especially in a university setting
- Real-world perspectives on the right to freedom of expression in America
The symposium’s goal is to generate a deeper understanding of freedom of expression—particularly in a university setting—and to facilitate meaningful discussions across our campus community.
Our event hosts include the Student Government Association (SGA), and the Division of Student Affairs at Adelphi University, in collaboration with The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and Voices for Liberty.
Our final keynote on Friday, October 25 is a conversation and Q&A with Nadine Strossen, one of the nation’s leading advocates for free speech and civil liberties.
