Undergraduate and Graduate Summer Course Modalities
Are you interested in signing up for a summer course but you’re unsure of its meeting format? Here is a quick guide to the different course modalities we offer at Adelphi—all suited to best meet your learning needs.
- Traditional in-person courses: 0–29 percent of coursework is delivered online with the majority being offered in person.
- Hybrid/blended courses: 30–79 percent of coursework is delivered online.
- Online courses: 100 percent of coursework is delivered online, either synchronously on a designated day and time or asynchronously as a deadline-driven course.
- Asynchronous: no scheduled class meetings (e.g, all coursework is completed in Moodle with due dates scheduled by the instructor)
- Aynchronous: real-time, scheduled class meetings via video conference (e.g., Zoom or Google Hangouts)
- Hyflex courses: Students will be assigned to attend in-person or livestreamed sessions as a reduced-size cohort on a rotating basis; live sessions are also recorded, offering students the option to participate synchronously or view asynchronously as needed.
