Submission Guidelines
The Adelphi University School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development is committed to providing quality education and training opportunities to our community which are tailored to contemporary practice issues that engage all levels of expertise and professional development.
Our standard workshop format is one day, consisting of six hours of instruction with one hour for lunch, or half day, three hour workshops. Additionally, we offer virtual workshops, in both stand alone options (generally 2-3 hours) or mapped out in a series (for example, we might break up a six hour workshop into three, two hours sessions)*. Our live virtual workshops aim to be interactive in nature, and we encourage creativity and courageousness in whichever format you choose to teach. Interdisciplinary practitioners are encouraged to present, and we recommend a teaching approach that accommodates diverse learning styles. Compensation for our workshops is competitive, and based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, modality of event, presenter expertise, budgetary considerations and instructional demand.
We welcome and invite a wide range of topics. Our workshops focus on current research and trends that are of interest to the broader behavioral health and human service community. We are committed to incorporating and applying a social justice lens that informs the participants of the needs and experiences of Black, Indigenous and communities of color. Workshops should draw upon clinical, administrative, leadership and/or practice management techniques, and we are particularly interested in workshops that engage and advance critical thinking and experiential learning opportunities for all of our students.
