A fantastic opportunity for me to finally follow my dream of becoming a professional puppeteer…I talked to my adviser, John Drew, and he was totally down for the idea.
A degree in interdisciplinary studies allows you to combine studies from two or more departments to create a unique, one-of-a-kind education. Depending on your interests, you have the option to pursue a BA or a BS. Both degrees must satisfy the University’s General Education requirements. Students pursuing a BA must complete Level IV of a foreign language or elect to sit for the language competency examination to be exempt from the reading competency requirement.
For students interested in becoming a teacher, you can gain two degrees in just five years, through the Scholar Teacher Education Program (STEP) offered in association with Adelphi’s Ruth S. Ammon School of Education. The five-year baccalaureate/master’s program allows students to complete their interdisciplinary major and also fulfill courses in education that will lead to New York State teaching certification.
