Launch a successful career in almost any industry with the data and analysis skills you’ll gain from our program.
Qualified professional statisticians and data scientists are in high demand in today’s workforce. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a job growth rate of 30 percent for these occupations through 2028—considerably faster than its average forecast.
You will be equipped to launch your career in one of the fastest-growing fields—in fact, 30 percent job growth is projected through 2028. You can work as a data scientist, statistician, big data analyst or go on to graduate school to further your knowledge in a wide range of areas.
I chose the statistics major because I’m interested in analyzing and visualizing data and figuring out what a specific data set really means. I’m looking forward to future internships within the department and forming close relationships with other scientists.
Our statistics program was created to meet the needs of students who want to solve problems through data. Our rigorous curriculum teaches you to find, clean, manipulate, visualize and transform data into meaningful insights that will improve industry—and society as a whole. In addition to the undergraduate degree option, we also offer statistics as a minor and have an accelerated dual-degree option.
Our statistics and data analytics minor provides both the theoretical and applied foundation for students who are interested in a career in statistics and/or data analytics.
