The Latin American and Latinx studies BA degree is an interdisciplinary studies program.
Latin American and Latinx Studies is a diverse field that bridges the social sciences, natural sciences and humanities in the study of the Americas. With this interdisciplinary degree, you’ll be prepared for a variety of careers in international relations, international business, healthcare-related fields, teaching, politics, or law. More importantly, it prepares you to become an informed citizen with sensitivity to the wants and needs of multicultural populations.

I was an international studies and French double major who also minored in Latin American studies. I loved my time at Adelphi University! In Spring 2022, Associate Professor Jacqueline Olvera, PhD, became director of Latin American Studies. The minor in Latin American and Latinx studies enhances a variety of majors that prepare you for a career in law, education, justice administration, healthcare, social work and business. A minor will increase your understanding of and cultural sensitivity to people from diverse backgrounds.
Students in this program are also eligible to enter STEP, which allows you to earn a master’s degree and prepare for teacher certification with one additional year, saving you time and tuition costs.
