We’re an Official Bloomberg Experiential Learning Partner
Adelphi University’s Robert B. Willumstad School of Business has been designated a Bloomberg Experiential Learning Partner. We’re among a select number of colleges integrating Bloomberg terminal exercises into our curriculum. Our students in the high-tech James Riley, Jr. Trading Room gain valuable hands-on experience and research expertise by using the same Bloomberg terminals as Wall Street professionals.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Training
Our finance majors have the opportunity to understand key decision-making and business strategies through cutting-edge technology and advanced training:
Our high-tech trading room is equipped with the same Bloomberg terminals used by Wall Street financial professionals. These terminals are used by students for advanced research and analytics.
Students in our Student Investment Fund course work under the supervision of a faculty member to make recommendations for how to invest the money in the Student Investment Fund. The fund, now part of the University’s endowment, was started in 2008 with funding from James Riley, Jr., a retired Goldman Sachs & Co. managing partner and a benefactor of Adelphi. Its current value is over $350,000.
Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) is a self-paced e-learning course that all students will complete as part of their major. BMC consists of three sections—Core Concepts (includes four modules: Economic Indicators, Currencies, Fixed Income and Equities); Getting Started on the Terminal; and Portfolio Management. The sections are woven together from Bloomberg data, news, analytics and television.
Adelphi offers all finance majors the opportunity to prepare and sit for the Securities Industry Essentials® (SIE®) Exam. Online and in-person review is available at no additional cost to students.
