Reason for Policy
The minimum hourly wage paid to all nonexempt staff, including part time, student, temporary, and limited service employees, is regulated by the U.S. Department of Labor federal minimum wage and the New York State Department of Labor.
Who Is Governed by this Policy
Faculty and Staff
Policy
All Adelphi University employees (including students, hourly and temporary employees) will be paid no less than the Federally mandated minimum wage as prescribed by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), or the State required minimum wage, whichever is greater.

Procedures
When an offer of employment is made by the appropriate office, the hourly wage must be made at or above the required minimum wage. The Office of Human Resources should be contacted with any questions regarding the minimum wage.
If the minimum wage changes, the Office of Human Resources will automatically change the hourly rate to comply with the law.
