Dear Adelphi Students, Faculty and Staff,
I am pleased to welcome everyone to Fall 2022 on Adelphi’s campuses to continue our 126-year tradition of student success.
This academic year marks the launch of our Momentum 2 strategic plan, which will guide our University through 2027 with increasingly innovative goals. Our mission to transform the lives of our students is the core ambition that leads Adelphi forward, and we are strengthening our focus on inclusivity, community service and collaboration. I am grateful for the more than 1,400 students, faculty and staff who joined in thoughtful discussions to develop Momentum 2.
Adelphi’s vibrant campus life offers thousands of opportunities to engage and create memorable experiences. And we continue building tomorrow together by expanding on our achievements. Our Faculty Mentoring Academy is growing; new diversity councils and task forces are advancing our shared goals; exceptional educators and leaders have joined the Adelphi community; and we have secured grants to expand experiential learning opportunities for our students in high-impact areas like healthcare and sustainability. Our alumni network continues to grow and support our vision, with our newest baccalaureate graduates entering the workforce earning 28 percent more than the national average salary.
I want to call your attention to three new initiatives this fall:
- Visit our One-Stop Student Services Center. We are pleased to launch the One-Stop Student Services Center, located on the lower level of Levermore Hall. The center streamlines students’ and families’ experiences with all things related to financial aid, billing, payments and registration. An added feature of the center is that you can find information and receive services online and in person.
- Stop by our new Multicultural and Mindfulness Centers. These dedicated spaces are the newest additions to the third floor of our Ruth S. Harley University Center. The centers will host inspiring programming and are places where our community can reflect and celebrate. They represent our continued commitment to our community’s wellness and creating a true sense of belonging at Adelphi.
- Engage with our new Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Works. Adelphi’s ongoing emphasis on valuable learning through hands-on, collaborative research will be strengthened by this new office, which will add resources and support for undergraduate research initiatives. The Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Works, which is supported by the University Libraries with Associate Professor Eugenia Villa-Cuesta, PhD, as its inaugural director, will be located on the third floor of Levermore Hall in Suite 303, Rooms B and C. For more information, email ourc@adelphi.edu.
I look forward to seeing our campuses filled with energy and enthusiasm. I wish you all a happy and successful fall semester!
All the best,
Christine M. Riordan, PhD
President
