This message to our community was shared on April 4, 2023.

Dear Adelphi Community,

I am happy to report that the prevalence of COVID-19 in our community and surrounding regions remains low. As we look forward to the end of the spring semester and Commencement, I’d like to update you on changes to Adelphi’s COVID-19 mitigation policies for Summer 2023 and beyond.

First, thank you for your support and care as we continue to make the safety and wellbeing of our community members the highest priority at Adelphi. While we strongly encourage all Adelphi community members to continue following the CDC’s vaccine guidance, the University will no longer require students, faculty, and staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Note: Most clinical and practicum environments will continue to require proof of vaccination and may require additional immunization and/or masking requirements. Please contact your specific clinical program for further information.

We will continue to base our plans and policies on the most current scientific data and all New York state and local public health requirements regarding COVID-19. Additionally, our Health and Wellness team will continue to monitor new variants, community transmission levels, vaccine recommendations, and all official guidance for ongoing refinement of our mitigation strategy.

The below updates and mitigation efforts regarding COVID-19 policies and protocols are effective May 11, 2023, at all Adelphi locations:

  • Revised COVID Vaccine Policy: Initial series and boosters are recommended for all students and employees in accordance with CDC guidance.
  • Sunsetting of COVID Hotline: Concerns, questions, and consultations will transition to the Health Services Center, reachable at 516.877.6002 or healthandwellness@adelphi.edu.
  • Campus Signage: Updates will be made to campuswide signage and messaging about distancing, hygiene practices, and self-screening for symptoms of illness.
  • Continued Collaboration: Communicable disease surveillance efforts in collaboration with the Nassau County Department of Health will continue.
  • Vaccination Programs: Adelphi University’s Health Services Center continues to provide on-campus vaccination for COVID-19 and influenza for all our community members.
  • Health Services: Students should continue accessing our Health Services Center for routine examinations, consultations and education.
  • Isolation Options: We will maintain an allotment of on-campus residence isolation rooms.

As a reminder, if you feel sick or are exposed to or test positive for COVID-19, you are advised to stay home, follow recommended healthcare protocols, and contact the Adelphi Health Services Center at 516.877.6000 or healthservicescenter@adelphi.edu.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email healthandwellness@adelphi.edu.

Thank you,

Nicole Gaudino MS, AGNP-C
