University College honors Dr. Iacone for his dedication to his students.

Sal_Iacone_298xSalvatore Iacone, Ph.D., has taught at Adelphi since 1987. He’s a published author and a film connoisseur.

This spring, University College honored the senior adjunct’s dedication to his craft by issuing him the College’s Teaching Excellence Award. The award is bestowed annually on a full-time faculty member or senior adjunct who best demonstrates exceptional teaching abilities in the classroom.

“I am thrilled, honored and very appreciative of being selected for this award,” Dr. Iacone said.

Dr. Iacone’s achievements can be seen throughout his work, whether it is writing books or teaching writing skills to clients in Canada and Europe. But perhaps his proudest accomplishment is helping the many University College students follow through and graduate.

“For more than 36 years, Sal Iacone has worked with thousands of UC students as they strive to complete their bachelor’s degrees,” University College Dean Shawn O’Riley, Ed.D., said. “Sal’s great sense of humor, compassion and dedication to our students is tailor-made for our student population and one of the reasons why we have been so successful in helping so many adults achieve their goals for so long.

“Sal is an amazing faculty member—and person—and our students and staff have been very lucky to work with him through the years. This award is richly deserved.”
