The Adelphi University community mourns with those impacted by the senseless and tragic shootings that occurred at Club Q, an LGBTQIA+ club in Colorado Springs, over the weekend.
That this occurred just hours before the Transgender Day of Remembrance, commemorating those we’ve lost to anti-transgender violence, is utterly unthinkable.
Adelphi is proud to be home to a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni. We are committed to fostering values built on respect, inclusivity, and equity and to disrupting hate and bias whenever and wherever we encounter it.
The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging is here to support all members of our community—to provide you with resources that support you and help navigate difficult situations. We invite you to reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have.
We also remind you of the following University resources, should you need support:
- Adelphi’s Student Counseling Center provides students with counseling and crisis intervention services. Email scc@adelphi.edu or call the telephone number for your campus location.
- Adelphi’s Employee Assistance Program provides faculty and staff with no-cost telehealth counseling through Cigna regardless of medical plan. Call 877.622.4327 or visit myCigna.com.
- Our Interfaith Center provides a welcoming space for any community member seeking spiritual guidance and support. Email auinterfaith@adelphi.edu or call 516.877.3113.
- The Office of Community Concerns and Resolutions works with all members of our community to facilitate a comprehensive review and response to any University concerns. Email occr@adelphi.edu or call 516.877.6864.
Every day, we aspire to be the most inclusive and diverse community that we possibly can—one that is free of discrimination; one that embraces differences; and one that respects all individuals. Today and always, we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Jones LaMon, JD, MFA
Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
