Sleep Disturbances Related to Breast Cancer: Understanding the relationship between the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and sleep disorders.
Sleep disturbance is common in patients diagnosed with breast cancer and can persist throughout treatment. On Tuesday, March 17, at 6 pm at Adelphi University in Garden City, Douglas K. Marks, MD, will discuss our current understanding of breast cancer-related sleep disturbance as well as offer strategies for patients to manage their insomnia and other sleep problems.
Dr. Marks is Attending Physician, Division of Hematology & Oncology and the Director of NYU Winthrop Cancer Clinical Trials Office at Perlmutter Cancer Center. In addition to caring for patients with breast cancer, Dr. Marks is currently involved in several research endeavors focused on better understanding the interaction between an individual patient’s immune system and breast cancer.
This free forum is presented by the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program and sponsored by The Junior Coalition of Manhasset’s Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer and NYS Department of Health.
The meeting will be held at Adelphi’s Angelo Alumni House, 154 Cambridge Avenue in Garden City. All forums are free and open to the public but registration is required.
