About the Guggenheim Fellowship: Founded in 1925 by Senator and Mrs. Simon Guggenheim, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation has granted more than $306 million in Fellowships to more than 175,000 individuals. This year 175 Fellowships were granted to Nobel laureates, poets laureates, winners of Pulitzer Prizes, Fields Medals and of other important, internationally recognized honors. Fellows come from 56 disciplines, 85 different academic institutions, 30 states and three Canadian provinces and range in age from 30 to 76.
