As a graduating senior, I am excited to begin my next journey as an IBM consultant in the Consulting by Degrees program.
I am currently a senior business management major with a specialization in human resources. As I approached my junior year, I knew I wanted to make the most of my time here and take full advantage of all the opportunities offered to me. On that note, I began my search for an internship that would allow me to put forth all of my knowledge and skills that I had acquired thus far at Adelphi. At the end of my fall semester, I had been notified that I was selected to intern for ‘Stache Media, a division of Sony Music. Through that internship, I was responsible for organizing initiatives for upcoming artists, as well as developing social media campaigns with careful consideration to the clients’ needs and specific industry. While interning for Stache Media, I was also receiving college credit through the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business. My experience not only with the company, but also with Neil Halloran, Adelphi’s Internship Coordinator, was a very positive one.
Aside from my internship that semester, I also decided to join The International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi, a co-ed professional business organization. My time in Delta Sigma Pi has helped me grow professionally and develop a large network of like-minded individuals. Immediately after I became a member, I took on the marketing position in the organization. I was responsible for marketing my organization not only to prospective members, but also to other chapters and the entire Adelphi community. This leadership position allowed me to expand my design skills, improved my ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with others, and has given me the opportunity to accurately represent and portray the organization on various social media platforms.
Given my professional leadership experiences during my junior year, I was now confident that I had the ability to effectively run an organization. I am currently the president of the Adelphi Finance Society. This role has enabled me to effectively collaborate with a diverse group of individuals looking to achieve one main goal, to offer Adelphi business students unique finance-related events. In any sort of workforce, it is important to have effective communication and interpersonal skills when working with teams and this experience has helped me further advance those skills. Secondly, this position has allowed me to further develop my skills as a successful leader and the ability to appropriately adapt given any situation.
With every leadership role that I have taken on during my years at Adelphi and with the help of the business school, I have been able to continuously develop the necessary professional skills to succeed in the business world. As a graduating senior, I am excited to begin my next journey as an IBM consultant in the Consulting by Degrees program. Specifically in this role, I will be given the opportunity to communicate and collaborate on international teams, which will increase my cultural competency and teach me how to adapt to cultural differences. This will further assist me with my professional development as I will be encouraged to solve complex business problems and develop strategic solutions.
