Her novel "Another Brooklyn" earns critical acclaim.
Celebrated author Jacqueline Woodson ’16 (Hon.), who penned her first book while she was an undergraduate at Adelphi University, is again a finalist for the National Book Award for her latest novel, Another Brooklyn. Woodson won the National Book Award in 2014 for Brown Girl Dreaming, a memoir, written entirely in verse, of her childhood in North Carolina and Brooklyn.
Budd Mishkin at Time Warner Cable News NY1 recently interviewed Woodson. “In the North I was getting taught about Jim Crow, I was getting taught that was something of the past,” she explained. “And then I would go down south and, no it isn’t. So living in both those worlds was really interesting.”
