"I want to give people a more real-world experience and not a text book experience."

“I want to give people a more real-world experience and not a text book experience.” – Jacqueline ColemanThe saying goes, “Idle hands are the devil’s playground.” Jacqueline Coleman will never have to worry about that.
Currently taking 9 credits in the M.B.A. program, with the human resources management specialization, performing graduate assistant duties for Anthony Libertella, Ph.D., in the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business, attending an internship and working as assistant manager at Villa Umberto in Elmont, New York, Ms. Coleman can be officially categorized as an extremely busy person. She’s now working at North Shore-LIJ Health System.
Despite the management of what some might call a distressing looking calendar, Jacqueline is quite possibly the friendliest person you could run into at Adelphi’s Ruth S. Harley University Center.
A true Panther, Jacqueline couldn’t say enough about Adelphi, the faculty and all the opportunities they have and continue to give her. She hasn’t wasted any of them.
On a warpath to success, Ms. Coleman has mapped out her future endeavors. Her ultimate goal after graduation is to work within the field of human resources for five to six years while working toward her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification. Following that amount of time she then hopes to emulate her past professors by teaching either introduction to business or human resources class at the university level.
Why an introductory level course? She wants to inspire.
“I think a good introduction could set someone up with a little bit of an interest,” Ms. Coleman stated, noting the fact that there may be some students who love business or human resources; however many students take introductory courses just to see what they may enjoy. “To be able to give them all a good beginning, it definitely helps. I want to give people a more real world experience and not a text book experience.”
