Professor Vaux's exhibit, Dr. Shore on children with gadgets, Children's Robotics League at Adelphi.
Professor Emeritus in the Department of Art and Art History Richard Vaux was featured in an article in Long Island Pulse Magazine for his artwork in a new exhibit, Archetypal Landscapes/ A Solo Exhibition. Vaux’s abstract style of art incorporates elements of nature and geometry. The exhibit will be on display from July 19 to August 18 and is located at 9 East Contemporary Art, Huntington, NY.
Assistant Professor in the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education, Dr. Stephen Shore was quoted in an article on Mashable about the effects of gadgets on children with ADHD. While children with ADHD may rely more on their devices than on their relationships, Dr. Shore believes gaming could be used to help children with ADHD develop better social skills.
Members of the Garden City Robotics League and the Askadarians from Plainview-Old Bethpage came to Adelphi to discuss FIRST LEGO League (FLL), a robotics program for kids. Teachers from Freeport School District, which will receive a grant from Adelphi to start its own FLL team. Adelphi educators listened as the children spoke about their experience as members of FLL.
