The Department of Public Safety and Transportation will conduct annual lighting inspections across our Garden City campus during this week.
In accordance with New York state (NYS) regulations and Public Safety’s commitment to the wellbeing of our campus community, the department will coordinate with the NYS Fire Marshal to conduct these inspections to ensure that our corridors, stairways, and exit routes are equipped with proper lighting for safe evacuation in an emergency.
During the testing process, power will be temporarily shut off in designated buildings; please be prepared to save your work and contact IT for assistance if you experience any technical issues when power is restored.
All testing will be done after 6:30 p.m., following the below schedule.
- Wednesday, July 31: Adele and Herbert J. Klapper Center for Fine Arts, Levermore and Blodgett Halls, Hy Weinberg Center for Communication Disorders
- Friday, August 2: Nexus Building, Ruth S. Harley University Center, Social Work Building, Harvey and Alumnae Halls
