Eyewitnesses to services after Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath affected everyone in our region. As social work students, faculty and staff, we were part of the unfolding events and responses, and many of us are still engaged with these issues and concerns. Some of us experienced the devastation first hand, when our own homes, families, businesses and neighborhoods suffered significant losses.
The Adelphi School of Social Work has launched an important Oral History Project, When the Personal and Professional Collide: Eyewitnesses to Services After Hurricane Sandy, focused on collecting stories told from perspectives of members of our school community who directly experienced the post Hurricane service system as consumers.
We invite School of Social Work students, faculty and staff with direct experience to share their reflections about the service delivery system they encountered as consumers themselves, when they were seeking or offered help after the Hurricane.
