End of Semester Vacation Prep, Upgrades and IT News

We wish you a happy holiday season and a safe, enjoyable vacation. As the semester comes to a close, we want to bring you a few important announcements.

System maintenance: The wireless network will be undergoing an upgrade during the holiday break, which may result in intermittent wireless coverage on all Adelphi campuses.

Intersession Projects

Email Upgrade: As a part of a system upgrade scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, there are a few changes related to the spam filtering process.

Mobile Responsive Website: We have been working to make the majority of the Adelphi website more user-friendly for mobile devices. The changes will take place in early spring.

Residence Hall Network Registration: We’re making changes to how you register connected devices such as gaming systems and streaming media devices. Look for updated instructions prior to move-in day.

Mobile Printing: You can already make use of mobile printing functionality, but phase 2 of the implementation will include additional ways to print from iOs and Android apps.

iPad Kiosks: New iPad kiosks have been installed in the lower level of the University Center for you to use for quick tasks. This initiative will be expanded to more locations over the coming months.

Intranet Sites: We hope you have been exploring the new Intranet sites on eCampus, including the newest ones for Faculty, Human Resources information and Student Life.

3D Studio: The 3D Studio in Swirbul has been bustling with consultations on projects from various sectors of the University. Make an appointment to discuss possibilities for how to use 3D technology, whether in your curriculum, for research or just as a personal interest.

AU2Go: Access Moodle, select CLASS features, the directory, shuttle schedule, University Bulletin, library resources, academic calendar, news and events, and more on AU2Go using a mobile device. We’re constantly working on more services to add to the app.

Announcements

Technology Workshops:  We will be offering many workshops during the Intersession and Spring 2015 semester on topics including 3D printing, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Calendar and Hangouts as well as sessions on Information Security. Dates and registration will be announced in January.
