Dear Adelphi Community,

The Cybersecurity and Internet Security Agency (CISA) and the Department of Homeland Security have notified us of an urgent security issue affecting all Windows-based computers. The issue is actively being targeted by criminals and nation-state actors. Microsoft has not yet released a fix for the problem.

To protect Adelphi’s data and its technical infrastructure, we will be implementing some changes effective immediately. These changes may affect all Adelphi-owned computers and could impact your ability to print and/or scan documents.

At the moment, printing to campus-based network printers and to printers that are directly connected to your computer should continue to function. However, if the severity of the situation escalates, it might become necessary to disable all printing functionality until a solution has been provided by Microsoft.

How will this affect you?

Anyone using Adelphi-provided Windows computers should not experience any immediate negative effects. Campus-based printing and printing while at home should continue to function. However, if we become aware of Adelphi being targeted by attacks, printing may be further restricted.

How long will it take for this to be resolved?

As soon as Microsoft releases updated software, we will distribute it. Unfortunately, no specific timelines have been provided.

Where can I find more information?

The notice issued by CISA can be found here.
