We are committed to social justice and stand against racism.
News from the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program
June 11, 2020
Since 1980, the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program has provided a hotline, counseling, education, patient navigation and advocacy programs. We are committed to social justice and stand against racism. We stand in solidarity with the African American community as well as with all families who have had loved ones murdered because of ignorance and hate.
The Adelphi Breast Cancer Program has a long history of advocacy for breast cancer screening, treatment, and providing services to medically underserved patients.
We work with community leaders to actively fight systemic racism in health care.
We connect individuals in medically underserved communities to health care screenings which are a human right.
We support breast cancer patients and their families with professional counseling and culturally competent patient navigation services regardless of race, religion, creed or socioeconomic status.
We will continue to educate staff, volunteers, and interns in diversity, inclusion, bias, and anti-racism.
We are a social work driven agency and adhere to the standards put forth in our code of ethics: “Social workers pursue social change, particularly with and on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed individuals and groups of people.”
We are stronger together. We commit to standing against racism and continue to serve the diverse needs of the breast cancer community. You are not alone.
With hope for a better future,
The Adelphi Breast Cancer Program
