As she enters her first year of the graduate program, Angelica is confident that Adelphi will help her on her road to success.
First-year graduate student Angelica Cintron has studied business management with a concentration in human resources for almost five years. Angelica’s start at Adelphi was a surprising one. “I wasn’t originally supposed to come to Adelphi. I stayed and I actually liked [it]. I liked the size of the classes, I liked that the campus was small, and that it was more intimate.”
Angelica began her career at Adelphi with credits from high school, so she was required to declare a major. Business was an obvious choice for her because it encompassed everything she had learned throughout her education. “I liked the business classes because it was a mixture of things that I was interested in: math, people skills, psychology,” she said. “I was the kind of kid that liked everything I did.”
She still felt as though her people skills were overshadowed by the other important aspects in her chosen field. She became completely comfortable when she chose her concentration in human resources. “They took my understanding and savvy for business and melded it with my love for working with people,” she said.
As she enters her first year of the graduate program, Angelica is confident that the information she learned will help her on her road to success. “That’s what the School of Business is really good about: taking the [information] you learn in a textbook and applying it to real life. Yes, you have to know this to succeed.”
