Carole Katz-Fetner '68

Carole Katz-Fetner ’68 honed her leadership and communications skills as an English major at Adelphi and had a powerful mentor and lifelong friend in Dean Emerita Ruth S. Harley ’24, ’50 (Hon.), alumna and namesake of our University Center in Garden City, New York.

At Adelphi, Katz-Fetner’s roles as co-vice president of the Student Government Association and vice president of the Panhellenic Council helped to shape her, both personally and professionally.

She went on to enjoy professional success in several industries—as an educator, speechwriter and studio/network story development executive in the entertainment industry, and, in politics, as deputy to a Los Angeles City Council member. She also worked for former Vice President Al Gore. Throughout her career, Katz-Fetner says her distinctive Adelphi education served as the foundation.

In 2022, she generously committed to a planned gift of $350,000 to endow two funds supporting Adelphi’s Department of English.

The Carole Katz-Fetner ’68 Endowment for Undergraduate Student Scholarships will support one or more scholarships for incoming first-year students who are majoring in English. These students will be known as Katz-Fetner Scholars and will earn the scholarship every year of their Adelphi journey.

The Carole Katz-Fetner ’68 Endowment for Experiential Learning

The Carole Katz-Fetner ’68 Endowment for Experiential Learning will help the Department of English fund transformative hands-on learning experiences for students.
