Adelphi University is taking a major step forward in serving nontraditional students and adult learners looking to acquire new skills and advance their careers. The University's College of Professional and Continuing Studies has introduced more than 50 certificate programs and workshops in a number of high-demand areas.

Both the certificate programs and workshops offer the flexibility busy professionals are looking for, with various program lengths, held in person and online.

“Our noncredit certificates and workshops are convenient, affordable ways for adult learners to upgrade their professional skills and enhance their personal lives,” said Andy Atzert, dean of Adelphi’s College of Professional and Continuing Studies. “These short programs reflect the most in-demand competencies that employers are seeking, and participants can earn digital credentials that are shareable on social media.”

Sessions are available in fields such as:

  • Finance
  • Management Skills/Business Leadership
  • Educational Leadership
  • Graphic Design and Creative Works
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Tech Skills
  • Stress Management/Personal Development

Programs include workshops like Recognizing and Preventing Bullying and Harassment in the Workplace, Project Management, and Assessment of Learning, and certificate programs include Leadership and Management, Diversity, and Real-World Graphic Design Skills. Sessions began on various dates starting on and after March 27.

Earn Credits at Your Own Pace

Workshop participants earn a badge upon completion. Completing several workshops leads to a certificate, with most programs requiring six to eight courses. The last taken toward a certificate is free.

Sessions are offered multiple times per year so that participants can work toward a certificate at whatever pace fits their budget and lifestyle. Or they can take an individual workshop or workshops without any obligation to complete a full certificate.

Adelphi’s College of Professional and Continuing Studies also offers for-credit academic programs for those completing or beginning a college education. To learn more about Adelphi’s continuing education courses and workshops, visit adelphi.edu/continuing-education.
