The New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) has awarded Jack Angel, associate professor of accounting and law at Adelphi University, the Dr. Emanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in Education Award.

The New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) has awarded Jack Angel, associate professor of accounting and law at Adelphi University, the Dr. Emanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in Education Award. Angel teaches a variety of classes for both graduate and undergraduate students at Adelphi, including federal taxation and financial accounting courses.
This prestigious award from the NYSSCPA is named after Dr. Saxe, a nationally renowned former teacher at Baruch College in New York City. This will be Angel’s fourth award from the NYSSCPA. In 2000 and 2009, he won Member Profile Awards and in 1997, the Max Block Distinguished Article Award.
Angel’s teaching career spans more than 40 years. He cites his students as the inspiration for his continued success in higher education.
“I thank the New York Society of Certified Public Accountants for this recognition, Adelphi University for the years of support that led to this award, and, most importantly, the students who inspired me over my 40 years of teaching,” said Angel.
Grace M. Conway, associate professor and department chair of accounting and law, praised Angel. “Over the years, Jack’s dedication to helping minority high school students looking for an opportunity in the accounting profession by coordinating the annual NYSSCPA COAP [Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession] program, organizing various events for this program, as well as arranging for instructors to provide insights to these students on various aspects of business, is another way that shows that Jack Angel was indeed deserving of receiving the Dr. Emmanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA in Education Award.”
In addition to teaching at Adelphi, Angel formed an accounting firm with Lynne Fuentes, his business associate, known as Fuentes & Angel CPAs, LLC.
The NYSSCPA has aimed to educate, connect and grow its membership within the CPA industry since 1897. Its membership consists of more than 24,000 CPAs, lawyers, bankers and other professionals from associated industries.
