Adelphi University has bolstered its President’s Advisory Council with the addition of three figures renowned in their respective fields.
Comprising 20 distinguished members, the council plays a pivotal role in offering crucial feedback, counsel and guidance to the University’s Executive Leadership, particularly concerning key initiatives aligned with the University’s Momentum 2 strategic plan, as well as emerging trends and issues impacting Adelphi. Members, who serve an initial three-year term, convene a minimum of two times annually, either in person or virtually, to contribute their expertise and insights to the University’s strategic endeavors
Beyond their advisory functions, members of the President’s Advisory Council actively support Adelphi through philanthropic endeavors and service. This includes participation in signature University events, recommending prospective students, providing career guidance, mentoring and internship opportunities to Adelphi students, and leveraging their networks to explore potential partnerships with the University.
John Argenziano ’00

With more than two decades of technology consulting experience, John Argenziano has been instrumental in advising and collaborating with clients—across diverse geographies and industries including financial services, high-tech, healthcare, manufacturing, telecommunications and utilities—on their cloud strategies. As a technology partner in PwC’s Health Industry Advisory (HIA) organization, Argenziano has been at the forefront of technology consulting, providing invaluable counsel to clients on shaping future road maps and architectures and spearheading enterprise cloud deployments. He holds a Bachelor of Science in physics from Adelphi, a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Columbia University, and an MBA from the Fordham Gabelli School of Business.
Maureen Gannon, MS ’88, PhD
Associate Dean for Faculty Development Professor of Medicine, Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism Vanderbilt University School of Medicine
Maureen Gannon, a distinguished professor of medicine specializing in diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolism, as well as cell and developmental biology, holds the position of associate dean for faculty development at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Renowned as one of the foremost experts on insulin-producing beta cells, Dr. Gannon’s research has garnered substantial funding from prestigious entities such as the National Institutes of Health, JDRF, the American Diabetes Association and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Recognized for her exceptional contributions, Dr. Gannon has received numerous accolades, including the 2022 Lois Jovanovic Transformative Woman in Diabetes Award from the American Diabetes Association and the prestigious Paul Lacy Medal Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Midwest Islet Club in recognition of outstanding career achievements in the field of islet biology. She holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from Molloy College, a Master of Science in biology from Adelphi University, and a doctorate in cell biology and anatomy from Cornell University.

Gus Scacco has more than three decades of experience as a portfolio manager and analyst in both institutional and high net worth markets. As the chief executive officer and chief investment officer at Hudson Valley Investment Advisors (HVIA), he oversees the firm’s strategic direction and serves as the portfolio manager of HVIA’s mutual fund. Prior to his current role, Scacco held key positions including chief operating officer and senior equity analyst at TigerShark Management and equity portfolio manager and partner at Angelo Gordon Asset Management. With a rich professional background that includes tenure at Morgan Stanley, where he managed the firm’s capital growth fund, Scacco possesses a deep understanding of financial markets. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Adelphi University and an MBA in finance from Hofstra University, where he served as an adjunct instructor in finance.
