Abraham Levinson is currently the Program Coordinator for the Emergency Services Administration undergraduate programs at Adelphi University. Prior to joining the team at Adelphi in 2011, Levinson served the citizens of the City of New York as an Emergency Medical Services Captain in the New York City Fire Department. Over the course of his career with the fire department Levinson held many positions including being: a hazardous materials paramedic and special operations lieutenant, instructor at the Bureau of Training, Citywide Exercise Evaluator and a member of the Ceremonial Detail Unit. Levinson’s last assignment with the New York City Fire Department was as the Commanding Officer of an emergency medical services station in the Bronx where he not only managed the facility and personnel but also responded to and managed complex and large scale emergencies all over the city.
Due to Levinson’s vast experience in emergency response and preparedness he was selected to be an adjunct instructor and exercise developer for the world famous Texas Engineering Extension Service in their Enhanced Incident Management and Unified Command training program. In this program, Levinson was a member of a highly skilled team that educated leaders of government, public safety and private industry in best practices in emergency response. Levinson also was part of a specialized team that wrote complex disaster scenarios to test plans from major critical infrastructure facilities all over the tri-state area.
