Dear Adelphi community,
We are saddened once again by a senseless and awful act of hate which has killed and injured so many people who were practicing their faith in two mosques in New Zealand.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Muslim community, to New Zealand, and to Adelphi’s students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and families who are affected and grieving. Islamophobia is unacceptable and we must all do our part to counter the prejudice and racism that feeds it. The Adelphi community condemns all acts of hateful violence and continues striving for unity, understanding and tolerance.
Adelphi’s Interfaith Center will support, guide and counsel members of our community who are in need–please reach out if you need assistance. The center, our Muslim chaplain and our other religious leaders will host a memorial service in the coming days; we hope you will all join us when it is announced.
Our thoughts are with New Zealand and with the Muslim community at Adelphi and around the world following this horrific act of terror and hate.
