Mark Grossman, MD, chief of sports medicine and arthroscopy at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island, has been head team physician at Adelphi University since 2002.

Retired educator Judith Ammerman, MA ’64, MS ’73, has always championed learning as vital to shaping lives and forging futures. And, as a lifelong philanthropist who earned two master’s degrees at Adelphi, she has generously established three endowed funds supporting students, faculty and the University with a planned gift of $1.5 million. 

Longtime Adelphi political science faculty member Regina Axelrod, PhD, died on November 3, 2022, with a legacy as an esteemed professor, campus leader, and faculty and student advocate. 

With a generous gift of $25,000, Deborah Viola ’84, PhD, established the endowed Daniel Viola Family Scholarship for Neurodiversity.

Carole Katz-Fetner ’68 honed her leadership and communications skills as an English major at Adelphi and had a powerful mentor and lifelong friend in Dean Emerita Ruth S. Harley ’24, ’50 (Hon.), alumna and namesake of our University Center in Garden City, New York.

The Hunter Performing Arts Scholarship will help propel the careers of drama majors in Adelphi’s Department of Theatre.

When Bharat Bhisé, MBA ’78, CEO and founder of Bravia Capital, established a distinctive new program for the Levermore Global Scholars program at Adelphi University, he said one of his objectives was to help students learn to be critical thinkers.

Adelphi University's 22nd annual President's Gala on Saturday, June 11, raised more than $345,000 for the President's Student Success Scholarship, an endowment that has now surpassed $1 million. Paula Malone was looking for a child development center for her grandchildren when she discovered Adelphi University’s Alice Brown Early Learning Center (ELC). Ern Knox ‘75 came to Adelphi first as a commuter student from Roosevelt, and later as a resident student, to study psychology. He found a strong community in the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, the first Black fraternity on Long Island, as a member of its second pledge class. SharRon McCoy-Knox, an aspiring nurse, commuted from Freeport. SharRon was actively involved in student life and had a role in establishing the first Black sorority at Adelphi, Alpha Kappa Alpha.
