All-Gender Restrooms

Adelphi University now offers 37 gender-neutral restrooms campus-wide. That includes six in the Ruth S. Harley University Center alone —with the addition of four during its recent renovation

These gender-neutral restrooms are also specifically intended to serve the needs of:

• Transgender or gender-nonconforming individuals who may be subject to harassment or violence when using male or female-specific restrooms.
• Parents who otherwise may not be able to accompany their children of a different gender into a gender-specific restroom.
• People with disabilities who have an attendant or caregiver of a different gender.
• Those who simply desire the privacy that a single-stall bathroom affords.
