Mindfulness Resolution Project Faculty Team
Professor Zaccarini is helping Adelphi students find their voice in the national conversation on criminal justice through her collaboration with Network Support Services, As part of the First Year Seminar “Mindfulness and the Study of History,” she assigned students to interview men and women about to reenter society, then write short biographies that can help them enter the job market or obtain housing. These bios are posted online, serving as testimonials to be included in applications for housing and jobs. Dr. Zaccarini now works with upper-level students to connect them to and assist justice-impacted individuals and potential clients.
Joining with the Mindfulness Resolution Project, Laura Messano oversees students—led by the Delta Sigma Pi professional fraternity—in a letter-writing campaign to the business community, including Adelphi alumni, to seek donations for the Adelphi/Network Support Services collaboration.
Stephanie Lake links Criminal Justice students to Network Support Services through the Adelphi internship program.
Undergraduate student, Jenna Massi ’24 worked as an intern with Network Support Services, commuting to their Bronx location. She created a database of employees that would train and hire justice-impacted individuals. She reached out to clients to determine their employment needs, as well as housing needs. She provided her notes on the clients to the Office of Outreach, so that the needs of clients could be served. Massi worked with Professor Stephanie Lake, her Criminal Justice adviser; the professor’s students are continuing to expand the database created by Massi.
The Center for Career and Professional Development plays a role in job opportunities and helps connect students with Network Support Services.
