Adelphi University Libraries Statement on Racism
Black Lives have and will always Matter. Libraries are not innocent of the structures of racism that have afflicted the U.S. Although we believe the faculty, staff, and administration of the Libraries have an obligation to speak out, this statement alone does not absolve us. In order to express non-performative solidarity to stand against racism, we must be held publicly accountable by the Adelphi community for any future proactive and preventative anti-racist actions we commit to. Going forward we are committed to working against oppression of Black people, Indigenous people, people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ communities, marginalized religious groups, and other minoritized groups.
