Google Groups Transition
To modernize our communication tools, we are transitioning from AULists to Google Groups. This migration will be completed by mid-July 2025, offering a more secure, efficient, and user friendly experience.
Key Benefits
- Enhanced Security: Eliminates shared passwords. Access is granted only to authorized individuals.
- Cloud-Based Access: No VPN required for message release.
- Faster Delivery: Removes the 30-minute delay previously experienced with AULists.
- Unified Domain: All lists will use the @adelphi.edu domain for a consistent and professional appearance.
- Streamlined Offboarding: Access is automatically revoked when Gmail accounts are deactivated.
Additional Details
- AULists vs. Listserv: The current migration focuses on AULists. Listserv migration will be considered in a future phase.
- Group Membership: The process for managing group memberships remains unchanged. Only the distribution method has been updated.
- Authorized Senders: Access is now managed through individual Gmail accounts. Shared passwords are no longer used.
- Reauthorization Required: Executive Leadership and department heads must reauthorize list managers. Only authorized individuals may release messages.
