International and Immigration Task Force
About the Task Force
The International and Immigration Task Force serves as a vital resource for the campus community. Chaired by the Executive Director of International Services under the Office of the Provost, the task force brings together representatives from across the university to support and advocate for the rights, privacy and well-being of our international and immigrant student populations.
Mission
The International and Immigration Task Force supports and advocates for the rights, privacy and well-being of all students. By actively monitoring changes in immigration policies and regulations, the task force reviews student support resources and recommends strategies to eliminate barriers to success, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
Goals
- Serve as a vital resource for the campus community
- Protect our international and immigrant students
- Spearhead communication to the Adelphi community
- Provide support and resources about immigration policies and regulations
Accomplishments
- Implementation of the Immigration Research Guide from University Libraries
- Providing Immigration Resources on university webpages, provided by International Services
- Establishment of the Athletics Diversity Pledge 2018
- Development of Confidential Allies during the Spring 2017 term.
- Providing financial assistance to students through the Emergency Fund for Vulnerable and International Students
- Creation of the Protocols for Contact from Immigration and Customs Enforcement
- Organize Immigration Forums to address policy changes, support resources, and to answer students questions.
- Provide Immigration Policy Awareness Training to university representatives.
- President Christine M. Riordan signed a nationwide letter of support to maintain Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
- President Riordan signed the letter to the Secretary of Homeland Security in response to the immigration ban.

History of Task Force
On December 20, 2016, the DACA, International, and Immigration Task Force was established at the request of Dr. Christine Riordan, President of Adelphi University, and held its inaugural meeting on February 8, 2017. Membership included:
