How to Hire a Student Employee
Follow these steps to hire a student employee in your department.
Create a job posting on Handshake. Download our guide to creating and promoting positions in Handshake.
Conduct interviews and select the most suitable candidate(s).
Direct new hires to our student employment paperwork for onboarding documents with the Office of Human Resources.
Enter new hires into the CLASS system to complete their employment setup.
Complete the user account request form to set up network and email access for all new employees—including graduate assistants and student workers.
Student employees will enter their hours on their timecards and submit them biweekly.
Student employee managers will review, edit, and approve timecards every two weeks.
Student employees receive paychecks via direct deposit or by mail every other week.
