Honors College Diversity Council

Activities and Goals

• Transforming the admissions process to reduce reliance on standardized test scores, to consider high school GPA more significantly, and to read the files of all class valedictorians and salutatorians regardless of standardized test scores or Regent’s exam scores;
• Inviting a broader array of talented faculty from different disciplines to teach for the Honors College;
• Diversifying the readings and assignments in Honors College courses to facilitate discussions about different cultures and experiences; Honors College core courses and interdisciplinary seminars share a commitment to intersectional analysis and we strive to make them more inclusive of antiracist pedagogies;
• Offering a range of significant cultural and meaningful social events that promote diversity within the context of community building.
• Providing all Honors College students access to a challenging curriculum that enriches their experiences at Adelphi University.

Council Meetings

The Honors College Diversity Committee meets twice a month. The meeting time is determined by the committee’s members.

The Honors College organizes a series of cultural and social events for its students each semester.  This information is available to students on the Honors Information Moodle site.
