Psychology and Pop Culture

This credit-bearing program is scheduled to take place from July 13-August 2, 2025 on Adelphi’s Garden City Campus.
In this course, you will analyze issues of social psychology, cross-cultural communication, creativity, identity development, and mental health in numerous domains of popular culture. Basic principles of psychological theories will be applied to the analysis of youth culture, social media, advertising, contemporary music and television, and the internet.
You will:
- Analyze pop culture using basic principles of psychology.
- Discover the influence of social media and celebrities as societal pressures that can impact human emotions.
- Discuss various mental health disorders and related issues to develop a deeper understanding of their impact on individuals.
