This credit-bearing program is scheduled to take place from July 13-August 2, 2025 on Adelphi’s Garden City Campus.
In this course, students develop the skills, values, and attitudes needed for success in business and innovation development whether starting a new venture from scratch, joining or acquiring an existing business or creating new products and services inside a larger organization. The primary activity is learning the various components of the organizational value chain and the development of a business idea into a comprehensive business plan. Topics include major functional areas of business, including marketing, human resources, legal structures of business, operations, accounting and finance, and risk management. Students are introduced to a variety of business development tools such as business models and design thinking as an aid in the development of the business plan.
You will:
- Take a course taught by a professor who was a former C-suite level executive and entrepreneur for major corporations and start-up companies for more than 30 years holding positions as Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Executive Officer
- Develop business ideas into business plans to familiarize yourself with entrepreneurial careers and evaluate future business opportunities.
- Be introduced to a variety of communication tools as an aid in the development of group and interpersonal skills.
- Participate in an in-class “Shark Tank” pitch session.
