Blood loss is the leading cause of preventable death in multiple casualty events. Rapid control of bleeding at the scene of the event can be life-saving.

A key element in bleeding control calls for using civilian bystanders as immediate responders who perform external bleeding control for victims at the point of wounding before the arrival of professional responders. This element is at the core of the “Stop the Bleed” campaign.

By participating in the Stop the Bleed program on-campus, you will:

  • Gain the skills and knowledge to provide immediate bleeding control in an emergency.
  • Learn about bleeding control supplies and where they are located in public gathering locations.
  • Learn what to do in an active shooter situation.

Any faculty, staff or students who are interested in hosting the program, please email Executive Director of University Health and Wellness, Nicole Gaudino at nmgaudino@adelphi.edu.
