Women’s Giving Circle Essay Contest
The Adelphi University Women’s Giving Circle (WGC) is conducting two student essay contests:
Undergraduate Junior Contest: This contest is open to Adelphi undergraduate juniors in good standing who have completed 60 or more credits.
Graduate Student Contest: This contest is open to any student in good standing enrolled at Adelphi at the graduate level.
This year each winner will be presented a check for $750 and an additional $250 will be donated to a charity of their choice.
Topic: Philanthropy
In your essay, please tell us to which charity you would direct your $250 contribution and why have you chosen this particular charity to receive this award?
Criteria for Essay Submission
- Eligibility – Each entrant must be an Adelphi University student in good standing.
- Format – Your entry must be typed, doubled spaced with 1 inch margins utilizing Calibri font (12); in 500 words or less. Essays that exceed the 500-word limit will not be accepted.
- Please include only your Student ID number in the top left corner of your essay submission.
Deadline
The Office of University Advancement submissions must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. (Eastern) on March 5, 2025.
Selection Process
An undergraduate and graduate winner will be selected based on the clarity and potency of message, plus compliance with entrance criteria. All submissions become the property of the WGC and may be used by the WGC in accordance with their mission.
Winner
The selected winning essay will be announced at the Women’s Leadership Conference on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Ruth S. Harley University Center. The winners are expected to attend the luncheon to be recognized publicly.
