Bharat Bhisé MBA ’78 and his wife, Swati Bhisé, have brought a philosophy of global understanding to Adelphi with the establishment of the Bhisé Global Understanding Project (BGUP). The BGUP is focused on the reversal of de-globalization and the importance of truth in news. It supports curriculum development, a lecture series, student and faculty research, faculty fellowships, and the annual Bhisé Global Learning Experience study abroad program.

Mr. Bhisé has created and led several global transportation and finance companies on three continents during which he has developed a first-hand understanding of global (mis)communications. Mr. Bhisé credits Adelphi University as the first step in his career.

Swati Bhisé is an Indian classical dancer and theater performer, scholar, educator, film producer and director and Artist in Residence for Lincoln Center or 25 years. She has had many prominent performances in the United States, including the opening of the 40 th anniversary of the U.N. General Assembly in 1985. She has received Asia Society’s Gamechanger Award for 2023. Mrs. Bhisé currently teaches women’s empowerment seminars at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Together, Mr. and Mrs. Bhisé have been lifelong supporters of various causes, especially gender and racial equality. Additionally, the couple has a deep commitment to global relations, and they intend for the Bhisé Global Understanding Project to making a lasting impact on Adelphi students to educate of the next generation of global thinkers and leaders.
