The Faculty Learning Commons is a dedicated support space for faculty looking for Just-in-Time assistance with Moodle and educational technology. Our instructional technologist and student technologists are on hand to guide you through Moodle, Panopto, VoiceThread, Turnitin, Respondus, Zoom, and other tools. Walk-in or make an appointment.

Victor Muntean, Instructional Technologist

FCPE instructional designers and interactive learning designers provide support to faculty in a variety of ways. Instructional designers collaborate with faculty to design and develop in-person and online courses from start to finish and help revise existing courses. Our designers share valuable insight for sequencing activities, designing accessible content, aligning learning objectives and outcomes, building community, and integrating innovative technologies. In addition to full-scale design projects, designers offer one-on-one meetings for pedagogical support. Our instructional designers work closely with our interactive learning designers and media team, who support faculty content creation. We also offer a wide variety of professional development opportunities through workshops that focus on learning theories and pedagogy, emerging technologies, educational trends, accessibility, and more.

The media team supports faculty with all aspects of their video- and media-related needs, including video/audio production, editing, and captioning, software training, podcasting, and graphic design assistance. We collaborate with faculty on incorporating media into their teaching and with shooting interviews to showcase their research.

Reserve our classroom for faculty-focused workshops, presentations, work groups, or meetings. This well-equipped space features a Logitech Group Web conferencing system, large digital display, and a whiteboard. This classroom space is attached to our Breakout Room, so longer meetings can easily take advantage of that space’s benefits, as well.

Our Breakout Room is a faculty-only decompression space. Faculty are welcome to use our coffee machine, microwave, and fridge or freezer while on campus. We also have a small faculty learning library, with books to help faculty explore new ideas in teaching. The room is equipped with a computer and digital display for impromptu collaborations.

FCPE’s digital recording studios are available by appointment for podcast and lecture recordings. We offer faculty technology-enabled spaces for various digital projects, including recording lectures, course materials, voiceovers, and podcasts. Our newly-renovated full studio is equipped with professional cameras, teleprompters, lighting, and a dedicated podcasting station.
