Personal Statement
Personal Statement
As an academic in Human Resource and a devoted educator, I bring over two decades of rich experience in HRM, research, and teaching. Holding a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, my scholarly work is deeply focused on enhancing organizational performance through emotional intelligence, employee development, and diversity initiatives. I have authored several papers on these topics, speaking at major conferences and contributing to the advancement of HR practices worldwide.
In my professional journey, I have also embraced the roles of consultant, trainer, and mentor, designing, and delivering programs that enhance the capabilities of HR professionals and leaders. My commitment extends beyond the classroom and into the heart of the industry, where I actively engage with the future of HR through advanced workshops and strategic advisory roles.
Fluent in English, French, and Arabic, I navigate diverse cultural environments to foster better communication and understanding across global teams. I am passionate about leveraging human capital to drive organizational success and resilience, particularly in challenging economic climates.

Teaching Philosophy
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that education should be transformative, inclusive, and directly relevant to students’ personal and professional lives. I aim to foster a learning environment where students not only absorb knowledge but actively apply it, reflect critically, and emerge as socially responsible, ethically grounded leaders.
A central pillar of my approach is the integration of research and scholarship into teaching. My work in areas such as emotional intelligence, burnout, psychological safety, and DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) informs both the content and structure of my courses.
I take pride in employing experiential and active learning strategies. My students engage in hands-on projects, simulations, and real-world case studies that develop their problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills. Signature examples include the Human Resource Analytics course, where students master tools like SPSS and Excel, and the Problem Solving in Business course, which uses role-play and contemporary business challenges to build critical thinking skills. In every class, I prioritize opportunities for collaboration, reflection, and real-time application of knowledge.
Technology is not an add-on in my classroom—it is a core teaching tool. I actively incorporate AI-driven simulations, LinkedIn Learning certifications, and platforms like Zoom, VoiceThread, and Moodle to enhance student engagement and practical skill-building. My commitment to digital pedagogy also extends to my leadership of a professional development workshop at the Academy of Management on integrating AI into business education.
A defining feature of my teaching is a global and community-based perspective. I facilitate international collaboration through the Transatlantic Virtual Exchange Collaboration (TAVEC), recently partnering with Lifetime Brands to provide students a real- world, intercultural business project—culminating in a student trip to Germany.
Finally, I believe that learning is a collective endeavor that extends beyond the professor- student relationship. As advisor to Adelphi’s HR Society, I mentor students and create connections with alumni through panel discussions and networking events that inspire career confidence and clarify real-world expectations.
My teaching philosophy is one of intentional design, research-informed content, experiential learning, and student-centered innovation. I strive to not only educate but empower my students—academically, professionally, and personally.
