Meet Amita Radakichenane. Smaller classes, more personalized attention from professors and exceptional opportunities in STEM have made sure that this future dentist gains a deep understanding of what her career will demand. Community and opportunity have defined Amita’s time at Adelphi. She found she could conquer such daunting subjects as organic chemistry through the help of role-model professors committed to her success. Amita also found a campus where opportunities abound. In her first year at Adelphi, she and a classmate came up with a business model under which dental offices could produce their own crowns, bridges and dentures, rather than outsourcing to laboratories. They developed the plan and won first prize in the Adelphi’s Business Plan Competition, which is organized every year by the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business. As a student in Adelphi’s 3+4 program, Amita is earning her undergraduate degree while setting the path for her doctorate, meaning she’ll be career-ready and applying for jobs sooner than her peers at other schools. Meet Adam Ayroso ’24. As a student in Adelphi’s Honors College, he benefited from more academic support for his STEM courses, more opportunities to pursue the arts and theater of nearby New York City, and an exceptional premed program.  Adam found his community in the Honors College. Adelphi students join schools, residence halls, academic organizations and clubs that match and foster their interests, backgrounds and identities. He found support in the small classes and personalized attention that are part of the Adelphi experience. And he got a rounded education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) while getting the training he needs to excel in medical school. He even credits his time at Adelphi with making him able to buy his first apartment. Adelphi is comprised of eight distinct schools and colleges, which offer a diverse spectrum of undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and specialized degrees and programming where students find like-minded peers and benefit from small classes and personal attention from their professors. Meet Krista Aliscio ’23. Strong role models, smaller classes, world-class academics, higher graduating salaries and award-winning career guidance have helped to define what made Adelphi an extraordinary experience for this scholar-athlete. Krista earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and minored in sociology at Adelphi University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in school psychology. Her professors in the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology and her coach on the women’s soccer team are among the people enhancing her time at Adelphi and helping her build toward a successful career. Krista was part of the Adelphi women's soccer team that finished in the national final four. They’re one of 22 Division II varsity sports at Adelphi that together have won 17 national NCAA titles. And at Derner, she’s part of the nation’s first university-based professional school of psychology, recognized today as global leaders, with programs that integrate research, theory and practice. Adelphi Commencement 2024: Highlights and Memorable Moments

Students in the Mural Arts Workshop get to design and create a large-scale public artwork for Adelphi’s campus. Get a behind-the-scenes look at junior studio art major Mehgan Geyer’s mural design for Swirbul Library and how she and her classmates made it a reality. Adjunct faculty member Cara Lynch ’12 leads students in leaving their mark at Adelphi through the Mural Arts Workshop. But more than that, she’s giving students real skills for continuing their artistic practice and experience on the ins and outs of realizing a public work. Geyer’s design and the “Knowledge Is Power” slogan connect with the history of Swirbul Library and invite people to spend time in contemplation. Black History Month at Adelphi: Kyana’s Story

Gabriel Balestero ’21, MS ’23, came to Adelphi from Brazil to study business, play tennis and be his best. Through hard work, he reached a personal best in tennis while winning an award in academics. He now calls his time at Adelphi “one of the best experiences of my life.” Gabriel set a goal to practice his game five hours a day, six days a week for nine months, on top of his studies. Today, he has plenty to show for all his effort. He received his bachelor’s degree in finance in 2021 and earned an MS in Supply Chain Management 2023 while maintaining a 3.6 GPA and setting his career-best singles record in tennis.
