Edward Jansen
Jansen spent the summer of 2023 interning at Brookhaven National Laboratory, studying the technology behind artificial intelligence chatbots. “This is a huge privilege to be here, especially with the dawn of artificial intelligence,” Jansen said. Read Edward's Story
Camila Restrepo
A bilingual psychology major from Columbia, Restrepo interned at The New Hope Mental Health Counseling Services, one of New York’s largest multicultural mental health programs. She interviewed clients in both English and Spanish, noting, "I appreciate the learning experience of being authentic and respectful with my clients’ struggles." Read Camila's Story
Anthony Lettiere '23, MBA candidate
Thanks to a letter of recommendation from his professor, business management major Lettiere landed a coveted internship at JetBlue’s headquarters on Long Island—and is now pursuing his MBA. Kennie Dionísio
A first-generation student with a minor in communications, Dionísio interned at North Shore TV, creating public access programming. "The most rewarding part of this internship was being able to give back to my community. Public access TV is a great way to televise ideas for those who cannot afford cable," he said. Eduardo Vilaro ’85, artistic director and chief executive officer of Ballet Hispánico, delivered the address at our undergraduate student ceremony, and Patrick O’Shaughnessy, DO, MBA ’13, FACEP, president and chief executive officer of Catholic Health, spoke at the graduate ceremony. Both are quoted in this video. “Continue to work hard, reach whatever goals you set for yourself,” Marc S. Adelphi Commencement 2024: Highlights and Memorable Moments

Students in the Mural Arts Workshop get to design and create a large-scale public artwork for Adelphi’s campus. Get a behind-the-scenes look at junior studio art major Mehgan Geyer’s mural design for Swirbul Library and how she and her classmates made it a reality. Adjunct faculty member Cara Lynch ’12 leads students in leaving their mark at Adelphi through the Mural Arts Workshop. But more than that, she’s giving students real skills for continuing their artistic practice and experience on the ins and outs of realizing a public work. Geyer’s design and the “Knowledge Is Power” slogan connect with the history of Swirbul Library and invite people to spend time in contemplation. A Collaboration in Creativity: Making Adelphi’s Mural

Black History Month at Adelphi: Kyana’s Story

Gabriel Balestero ’21, MS ’23, came to Adelphi from Brazil to study business, play tennis and be his best. Through hard work, he reached a personal best in tennis while winning an award in academics. He now calls his time at Adelphi “one of the best experiences of my life.” Gabriel set a goal to practice his game five hours a day, six days a week for nine months, on top of his studies. Today, he has plenty to show for all his effort. He received his bachelor’s degree in finance in 2021 and earned an MS in Supply Chain Management 2023 while maintaining a 3.6 GPA and setting his career-best singles record in tennis. He won the 2021 NE10 President’s Award for Academic Excellence and was a member of Adelphi’s first NE10 regular season title. Photo of Kobe Bryant. Conquering Challenges: An Adelphi Athlete Story

Dance Clubs: Community, Friendship and a Sense of Belonging at Adelphi

Adelphi expands the classroom Adelphi expands the classroom to the world. Tag along with this video as we visit Rome, Naples, Pompeii, Tuscania, Viterbo, Pisa and Venice, learning language, food and customs and training global-minded professionals. The world is your classroom. At Adelphi University, you’ll find opportunities to experience other cultures while studying abroad. Our students go to England, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Poland and elsewhere around the world in faculty-led programs during the winter Intersession, spring and summer. The Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences trip to Italy is just one example. Students learn language, food, culture and customs while exploring together and forming lifelong bonds. Working through the Center for International Education, these specialized short-term trips are part of what makes Adelphi a leader in international awareness and activity.
