A group of Adelphi students are taking part in an alternative summer break to Morocco! Students are immersing themselves in Moroccan culture

The Division of Student Affairs offers Adelphi students a 14-day global and multicultural engagement experience in Spain and Morocco.  The visit to Spain and Morocco is a global civic engagement and cultural learning experience that will immerse students in a new culture and way of life in Southern Europe and North Africa. Students will enhance their sense of global responsibility, cross-cultural communication, and self-awareness, propelling them into future careers through this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. 

The global and multicultural engagement experience in Spain and Morocco provides a unique opportunity to learn about the rich Islamic and Moorish cultures, customs, traditions, languages, and perspectives that foster cultural awareness, leadership development, career readiness, and a global mindset, valuable attributes in today’s global and interconnected world and marketplace.

Requirements

Participants must be an enrolled Adelphi student for the fall 2024 semester.

Participants MUST have a valid passport with an expiration date after February 2025 in their possession at the time of making a deposit. Proof of a valid passport will be needed in addition to your deposit to hold your reservation for the trip. Passport cards are not accepted. 

Visas are not required for United States citizens. However, they may be required for International Students.

Students are expected to adhere to the program rules and expectations, including policies and expectations outlined in Adelphi’s Code of Conduct throughout the trip and any local Spain and Morocco policies/laws.

Itinerary

Students will have opportunities to volunteer, serve in Spanish and Moroccan communities, and interact with Moroccan university students. They will explore bustling markets known as souks, visit historical sites such as the Alhambra in Granada and the Royal Alcazar of Seville, rural villages, NGOs, and medinas of Tangier and Rabat, admire stunning architectural gems such as the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca and the Blue City in Chefchaouen, and much more.

Cost

The program fee includes: 

  • Round-trip airfare from New York to Spain and Morocco
  • All transportation and transfers by private vehicle in Spain and Morocco 
  • All lodging in hotels and guest houses in double and triple-occupancy 
  • Full board: all meals  
  • Services of one full-time, experienced group leader and Spain and Moroccan counterpart 
  • Services of several guides and translators 
  • All locally guided tours and community activities described in the itinerary 
  • Entrance fees to all monuments described in the itinerary 
  • Travel Insurance

The program fee is designed to encompass most aspects of the program; however, you may consider bringing additional spending money for:

  • Items of personal nature
  • Souvenirs, etc.
  • Additional snacks/food outside of 3 meals a day

Payment Deadlines

  • The payment timeline is as follows. Please note that payments are non-refundable. You will need to deposit to reserve your spot.   Program acceptance is done on a first-come, first-served basis based on the order in which the deposits are received. Space is limited. You can pay online here.   
  • $1200 deposit due by May 4, 2024:  this deposit is needed to hold your reservation for this trip. This trip is on a first-come-first-served basis. 
  • $700 for the second Payment on June 4, 2024
  • $500 for Payment for final payment on June 20, 2024

Refund and Cancellation Policy

The program deposit and payment installations are non-refundable unless the program is canceled.

An attempt to recover funds from our tour providers will be made, but no refund is guaranteed.
