Nursing Pinning Ceremony
Event Actions
This ceremony is an invite-only celebration for our nursing graduates and their families.
The Pinning Ceremony is a time-honored tradition that serves as a “rite of passage” into one of the most trusted professions.
The pin symbolized educated nurses who were prepared to serve the health needs of society. Eventually, each school of nursing designed and awarded a customized pin. By 1916 it became standard in the U.S. to award all nursing graduates with a customized pin symbolizing their programs during a special ceremony. At each nursing pinning ceremony, Adelphi students are welcomed into the profession with their Adelphi nursing pin.
The pinning ceremony at the College of Nursing and Public Health has been made extra special as we ask that each graduate select one of their special guests as the person to whom they are dedicating their pin and this special individual then pins the graduate at a special time during the ceremony.

This event is invite only. Eligible students and their families have been invited by the College of Nursing and Public Health Dean’s Office directly.
This event is part of Nurses Week at Adelphi University.
